"Mint to Be" Baby Shower featuring Martha Stewart and Cricut

Mint to Be Baby Shower - Jen T by Design #ad #CricutMarthaStewart #MadeWithMichaels #CricutMade #Cricut

Do you know a mama-to-be that was meant to be a mommy?  Then you are going to love this "Mint to Be" Baby Shower theme!  I am so excited to share this party with you.  It's my latest collaboration with Cricut, Martha Stewart, and Michaels, and it's full of beautiful colors and easy ideas that you can recreate at home, which will make planning your baby shower a breeze!

When it comes to color combos, you just can't get much prettier than mint and blush!  The Mint and Blush Martha Stewart Collection has a gorgeous array of party goodies that are so soft and delicate...just adorable for a baby shower.

You guys know I can't resist a good play on words, so the pretty shade of mint in these goodies created the perfect opportunity for me to get a little punny, thus the "Mint to Be" Shower Theme was born!

Mint to Be Baby Shower - Jen T by Design #ad #CricutMarthaStewart #MadeWithMichaels #CricutMade #Cricut

There are TEN stunning Martha Stewart party collections available, and they are sold exclusively at Michaels Stores.  So far I've designed parties around the Cotton Candy and Gold collections (see the parties here and here), and I've been so impressed with how many items are available to choose from in each line!  The pic above is just a peek of what's included in the Mint and Blush Collection.  Isn't it all so pretty?  I love the elegance that the simple touches of gold add to the pieces.

Mint to Be Baby Shower - Jen T by Design #ad #CricutMarthaStewart #MadeWithMichaels #CricutMade #Cricut

To create the tablescape for this Mint to Be Baby Shower, I started by layering solid and patterned plates on top of the beautiful floral tablecloth.  Pretty pink napkins and gold flatware helped anchor the place settings.

Gold-trimmed blush favor boxes topped with fluffy tissue paper flowers sat atop each set of plates and added a feminine feel to the table.  The flowers, leaves, and adhesive are all included with the purchase of the favor boxes, so all you need to do is fluff the flowers and use the adhesive to attach them to the boxes.  So easy and convenient!!!

I loooove the straws in this collection!  They are very sturdy, clear straws that are adorned with the floral pattern from the tablecloth.  Little gold flags are included in the packaging and are simply tied around the straws for a delicate embellishment.

Pretty cupcake picks were used as cupcake toppers, and I also transformed some into party decor.  I cut mint doilies in half and then attached them to white paper cups using double-sided tape.  I inserted the cupcake picks into the tops of inverted cups to create some visual interest between the cupcakes.

Even though mommies to be have to forfeit cocktails while their babies are brewing, it's still fun to spoil them with a special drink.  Hence:  Mommy Mocktails!

Our mocktail was a concoction consisting of raspberry lemonade, Sprite, and mint leaves.

I served the mocktails in clear glass milk jars to show off the color of the sweet sips.  I created "Mommy Mocktail" labels by cutting gold foil text with our Cricut Explore Air 2™ Special Edition Martha Stewart Machine and adding it to favor labels from the party collection.  Then I simply adhered them to the bottles with double-sided tape.  I've saved the project in Design Space here so you can easily recreate these at home.

The patterned straws looked so pretty in the bottles, don't you think?

Mint to Be Baby Shower - Jen T by Design #ad #CricutMarthaStewart #MadeWithMichaels #CricutMade #Cricut

This backdrop just may be my favorite decor element of the entire baby shower.

I la, la, love the poofy tissue paper flowers in this collection and the impact they have on the entire setup!  They're so eye catching!

They're also the perfect anchors for the pretty mint canvas banner.

I turned to my Cricut Martha machine again to add the text, and I'm still blown away by how easy personalizing my party goods is using this machine (available exclusively at Michaels)!

It can cut up to 100 different materials ranging from card stock to cork (see what I did with cork here), and so much more, and it cuts twice as fast as previous models.

One of the things I love most about the machine is the Bluetooth capability it has.  No need to plug-in to use the machine!  Cut from your laptop, your phone, or your desk top with NO WIRES!  It's sooooo convenient!

You're free use your own images and fonts to create one-of-a-kind unique designs, or you can choose from thousands of ready-to-make projects, if that's what floats your boat.  The possibilities are endless!

Take a peek below for the step-by-step of how I created this party banner and see for yourself how easy it is to create with this incredible machine!

First, open this project in Design Space and click "Make it."  Since you are using iron-on, be sure to mirror the image before proceeding.

***If you choose to stick the "to be a" text directly onto the wall instead of ironing it onto the banner, please see the note below the instructions prior to cutting. ***

  1. Place Gold Foil iron-on shiny-side-down on the cutting mat.
  2. Load the mat and cut.
  3. Weed (peel away) excess material using the weeding tool.
  4. Cut the carrier sheet so that you have individual pieces for each letter/word.
  5. Use the Cricut EasyPress or an iron to adhere your letters to the canvas.  If you are using an EasyPress, follow the recommended settings here.  Otherwise, the iron settings can be found on the iron-on material packaging.  Get more info for using foil iron-on here.
  6. Let the material cool, then peel away the carrier sheet.
  7. String the banner tiles together and hang!

***NOTE:  I ended up sticking the "to be a" text to the wall instead of ironing it onto the banner.  If you choose to do the same, cut those words out of gold adhesive foil and use transfer tape to adhere them in place on the wall.  Adhesive foil gets cut shiny side up, and you will not mirror the image for that cut.

DIY Tile Coasters with Cricut Permanent Vinyl

DIY Tile Coasters - Jen T by Design #ad #CricutMarthaStewart #MadeWithMichaels #CricutMade #Cricut

Summer is in full swing, and I don't know about where y'all live, but here in Virginia it's been hot!  We've definitely been doing our share of summertime sippin' to keep cool, but you won't hear me complain about that.  ;)

In the spirit of sippin,' today's post is a super cute, summer-inspired project, which just so happens to be the perfect resting spot for your summer sips...DIY Tile Coasters.

DIY Tile Coasters - Jen T by Design #ad #CricutMarthaStewart #MadeWithMichaels #CricutMade #Cricut

This DIY Coaster Set features four fun designs that are cut out of Cricut Premium Vinyl using the Cricut Explore Air 2 Special Edition, Martha Stewart Bundle, which is available exclusively at Michaels.

The pretty, pearlized Cricut Martha Machine comes with 25 exclusive Martha Stewart images, plus thousands of images in Design Space.  For this project I used the MS pineapple, a flamingo, a palm tree, and a hibiscus, but you can totally mix and match the designs however your little heart desires!

Since it's stinking hot outside and our cold drinks are likely to sweat, using a water-resistant vinyl is a must.  Cricut's new Premium Permanent Vinyl is up for the challenge!  It is water resistant for up to five years, and repels the cup sweat like a champ!

Another thing that's really cool about Cricut's Premium Permanent Vinyl is that the carrier sheet (the paper backing on the vinyl) lies flat as it unrolls, which makes it super easy to apply!  It drives me bonkers when a carrier sheet curls and I have to fight with it to line it up evenly!

DIY Tile Coasters - Jen T by Design #ad #CricutMarthaStewart #MadeWithMichaels #CricutMade #Cricut

What You'll Need to Make these DIY Tile Coasters:

  • Cricut Martha Machine (which includes the exclusive Martha images and the basic tools that you'll need for weeding and transferring)
  • 4.25" white tiles (I picked these up at Home Depot for 40 cents each)
  • Cricut Premium Permanent Vinyl in gold, black, green pearl, and pink pearl
  • Cricut transfer tape
  • Adhesive-backed thin cork (I bought this roll in the closet/organization aisle of Lowes)
  • Standard and strong grip cutting mats
  • This project in Design Space
DIY Tile Coasters - Jen T by Design #ad #CricutMarthaStewart #MadeWithMichaels #CricutMade #Cricut
  1. Open the project in Design Space and click "Make It" at the bottom of the screen.  The project will be divided onto mats by color. Apply each color of vinyl to a standard grip mat, then follow the prompts on the screen to cut out the designs.  Be sure to set the Smart Dial to "Custom" and choose "Premium Vinyl" as the material.  In the "Pressure" drop-down menu, select "more." (I've found that the extra pressure on this vinyl makes it a bit easier to weed).
  2. Once all of the cuts are made, use scissors to cut out the pieces by project.  Registration squares are on each piece to use as a guideline for lining up the layers in the correct place.  Be sure to include the registration mark with each element when you cut the pieces out with the scissors.
  3. Use the weeding tool to remove the negative vinyl.  Apply transfer tape.
  4. Begin adding the vinyl to the tiles.  To avoid air bubbles use the scraper tool to help guide the vinyl onto the tile.  If you happen to get air bubbles, the adhesive on the vinyl allows for repositioning, so simply lift a corner of the layer to release the air bubbles, then lay back down, using the scraper as a guide.
  5. Layer the registration marks on top of each other to ensure proper placement of each layer.
  6. Peel away the transfer tape and remove the registration squares.  Press firmly all over the vinyl to make sure it is adhered well.
DIY Tile Coasters - Jen T by Design #ad #CricutMarthaStewart #MadeWithMichaels #CricutMade #Cricut

Next up, you'll want to add a thin layer of cork to the bottom of the coasters to prevent them from scratching any table surfaces.  Instead of trying to cut precise squares with scissors, let the Cricut Martha Machine do the cutting for you!  This awesome machine can cut over 100 different materials, and this thin cork happens to be one of them.  So cool!

Simply create a 4-inch square in Design Space and duplicate until you have as many squares as you want to cut. Set your Smart Dial to "Custom," and from the materials list, choose "Cork, Adhesive Backed." Apply the cork adhesive-liner-side-down onto a strong grip mat, and cut away!

Once all of your squares are cut, remove the adhesive backing and apply the cork to the coasters.

*OPTIONAL:  At this point, your pretty DIY Tile Coasters are ready to use!  However, if you'd like an extra layer of protection, applying a layer of Mod Podge over the vinyl should do the trick.  :)

Succulent Bridal Shower featuring Cricut, Martha Stewart, and Michaels

Succulent Bridal Shower with Cricut, Martha Stewart, and Michaels - Jen T by Design #ad, #CricutMarthaStewart, #MadeWithMichaels #CricutMade #Cricut

Hey guys!  If you caught my last blog post, then you know that an epic collaboration is going down between Cricut, Martha Stewart, and Michaels, and you know that I am one of the lucky gals who gets to work with them and create fun party inspiration for YOU as a result!

I have been having so much fun creating and styling with these goodies, and I'm super excited to share my latest project with you, a Succulent Bridal Shower

Martha Stewart Celebrations Exclusively at Michaels - Gold Collection - Jen T by Design #ad, #CricutMarthaStewart, #MadeWithMichaels #CricutMade #Cricut

For this project I got to play with the "Gold" collection in the Martha Stewart Celebrations line.  This is one of ten collections in the line, all available exclusively at Michaels.  All of the collections include practically everything you need to throw a party...gorgeous tableware (from pretty plates, napkins, and table runners to cute cups and straws),  party decor (like banners and party poms), and so much more!

What I like about the gold collection is that it is so versatile!  Use "as is" for a simplistic, classy feel, or add some pops of color to jazz it up a bit.  You know I'm all about that jazz, so I decided to complement the pretty gold and white with some bold color!

We are in full blown wedding season at our house because TWO of our kiddos are getting married!  We're so excited!!!  So, with weddings on the brain, when I saw the classy gold collection I instantly thought "bridal shower."  With summer approaching, I really wanted to use some summer colors to add some seasonal pop to the party.

I went to Michaels and browsed through the collection of Martha Stewart card stock to find the perfect colors to include in my Succulent Bridal Shower.

The 12-inch pages were perfect to use at each place setting as placemats, and they really added a nice visual contrast against the gorgeous Martha Stewart table runner, plates and napkins. SO easy and inexpensive compared to using chargers, too!

Pretty florals from Michaels helped tie all of the colors together. I'll be real here.  I was totally gonna splurge on real flowers for this party, but when I was at Michaels looking at the paper I decided to mosey over to the floral department.  Faux flowers have come a long way, y'all.  I had several people look at the pics and couldn't even tell that these flowers weren't real!  I'm a fresh flower kinda gal, but I just might be swayed a little bit.  :)

Succulent Bridal Shower with Cricut, Martha Stewart, and Michaels - Jen T by Design #ad, #CricutMarthaStewart, #MadeWithMichaels #CricutMade #Cricut

As part of the epic collab between these three brands, Cricut has released a brand new Cricut® Explore Air™ 2 Special Edition, Martha Stewart Machine Bundle, available exclusively at Michaels.  The machine has a stunning pearlized finish and gold accents, and is seriously so beautiful!  A five piece gold-accented tool kit is included in the bundle.

Not only is this machine pretty, she's smart!  She can cut over 100 materials seamlessly...simply set the Smart Set dial to the material that you'd like to cut, and the machine will know exactly how much pressure to put on the blade to give you the perfect cut! Wanna know what else?  It cuts and writes up to twice as fast as previous versions of the machine!

For this shower I cut card stock, vinyl, and iron-on with just a turn of the dial.  What's even cooler is I used the scoring stylus to score the folds for the favor boxes, and I used the pens to draw a favor sign.  It's all so easy to do and takes crafting to an entirely new level!  I'm so obsessed!

There are thousands of ready-to-make projects waiting for you in Cricut's free Design Space software, and as a bonus, this Martha Machine bundle includes 25 exclusive Martha Stewart projects.  This ADORABLE favor box is one of them (find it in Design Space here, and see my modified version here).  Simply change the papers and the embellishment cuts/accents to create an entirely new look for your celebrations! So fun!  Instead of using a cut embellishment for the top, I used the Martha gold labels and wrote the girls' names on them so the boxes could serve as place cards.

This 3-D cactus is a ready-to-make project that I fell in love with and knew I wanted to incorporate.  I just love how it turned out...isn't it so neat?!!  Get the cut files in Design Space here.

Another exclusive Martha cut that I used was the medallion cut (in Design Space here).  The design worked well with the succulent theme, so I used Cricut foil iron-on and my EasyPress to adhere the medallion designs to the Martha Stewart cloth banner, then hung it on the front of the favor table.

I used a really cool cactus wall hanging as the backdrop, and I really love the character it added to the setup.  When setting up a table, I'm all about visual interest, so staggering heights is a must.  I turned gold buckets from the Martha collection upside down and used them as risers for the succulent favors and the straws (also from the Martha collection).   Cricut has some super cool corrugated paper that I cut and wrapped around the succulents for a finished look.

Bottles of Sanpellegrino Prickly Pear Sparkling Fruit Juice got jazzed up with a new name, because "On Point" Punch sounded a little more fun to me and I love a good pun (get the label project here).

Speaking of puns, remember that I said I used the Cricut pens to make the favor sign?  Well, the sign says "She's a SUCCA for his love."  Get it?  Because of the succulents?  Yeah, corny, I know, but that's totally how I roll!  Anyhoo, the machine wrote and cut that sign, you guys.  How freaking cool is that?!!! I just taped some colored card stock behind the cuts.  Here's how to make it.

A Celestial Graduation Party featuring Cricut, Martha Stewart, and Michaels

Celestial Graduation Party featuring Cricut, Martha Stewart and Michaels #ad, #CricutMarthaStewart, and Michaels #MadeWithMichaels #CricutMade #Cricut

Once upon a time, three fabulous, very well-known brands joined forces for a dynamic collaboration.  A girl (who isn't very well-known and works at home in her pajamas) was asked to be a part of it.  The girl, realizing what an unprecedented opportunity this was, fainted, came to, then excitedly got to work on the most fun partnership ever...kicking off the celebration with this Celestial Graduation Party!

You guys, I have been holding this secret in for months, and I'm SO EXCITED to finally spill the beans!

CRICUT, MARTHA STEWART, AND MICHAELS have all joined forces and have released an exclusive line of phenomenal products that are truly incredible...and I get to help them share it with you!

Cricut Explore Air 2™ Special Edition Martha Stewart Machine Bundle and Martha Stewart Party Collections available exclusively at Michaels #ad, #CricutMarthaStewart, #MadeWithMichaels #CricutMade #Cricut.jpg
To celebrate the occasion, Cricut has released a Special Edition Cricut Explore Air 2™  Martha Stewart Machine Bundle, and Martha Stewart has released 10 "Celebrations" Party Collections full of gorgeous party decor and supplies, and it's all available exclusively at Michaels

The Martha Stewart Celebrations lines are filled with all of the party planning essentials that you could possibly need.  From plates & cups to garlands and balloons, each collection has something for everyone! The Indigo Collection would be so fun to incorporate into upcoming July 4th celebrations, and the Meyer Lemon Collection is perfect for summer!

For this project, I was asked to design with several of the items from the Cotton Candy Collection.  It's full of pinks, purples, and iridescents, making it perfect for the Unicorn Parties that are so popular right now!

Since it's graduation season and this collection has stars incorporated into it, I thought it might be fun to stray from the expected and use this collection for a Celestial Graduation Party.
The latex balloons in this collection are so fun, I knew that they would make a beautiful focal point.  I especially love the confetti balloons, and I was super excited to discover that a funnel is included in the packaging to help you easily put the confetti inside the balloons.  I used the balloons to create the balloon garland, then anchored it with Martha's tissue paper poms, paper lanterns, and a star mylar balloon from the collection.

The star favor bags were tucked inside a decorative box, and I hung the tassel garland from the Deluxe Decor Kit on the back of the box to give it a nice, finished look.

It's always fun to display pictures at graduation parties, so the Iridescent Wood Clothespins came in handy!  I strung the Iridescent Banner onto the pink twine, then used the clothespins to attach pics of the graduate.

The Iridescent Place Cards served as food tent labels, but I also thought it would be fun to use them as wishing cards.  The guests could leave a wish for the graduate on the cards, and they could serve as a sweet momento for the grad to appreciate later on.
Celestial Graduation Party featuring Cricut, Martha Stewart and Michaels #ad #CricutMarthaStewart #MadeWithMichaels #CricutMade #Cricut 2.jpg

The Iridescent Tiered Tray was a fun way to display the treats, and it's awesome because there is plenty of space between the tiers to display something other than cupcakes.  I used little treat cups filled with "clouds," which seemed appropriate since we were reaching for the stars.  :)

I love using fresh flowers in my party decor, and this Celestial Graduation Party was no exception!  The Iridescent Bucket worked perfectly to hold the bouquet, and tied in with the rest of the decor seamlessly.  Just a note here, though...the bucket seams are not fully sealed, so the bucket will leak if you put water in it.  I placed a jelly jar filled with water inside the bucket, then arranged the flowers inside the jelly jar.  :)

Cricut Explore Air 2™ Special Edition Martha Stewart Machine Bundle and Martha Stewart Party Collections available exclusively at Michaels #ad, #CricutMarthaStewart #MadeWithMichaels #CricutMade #Cricut
Ok, here's my absolute favorite part of party styling...giving things my own personal spin!!!

Now don't get me wrong...I love the ease of ready-to-go party supplies.  But what I love even more is being able to use my imagination to reinvent them or use them in unexpected ways.

That's where the Martha Machine Bundle comes in!

Not only does this baby cut with incredible accuracy and ease (and does it twice as fast as previous Explore models), she can write and score, too...and I used all of those features in my projects for this party!

This exclusive bundle includes a 5-piece, color-coordinated basic tool set, plus 25 exclusive Martha Stewart projects!  It doesn't hurt that she's pretty, too.  I mean just look at that sleek design, that gorgeous ivory pearl color, and those stunning gold accents!
Celestial Graduation Party featuring Cricut, Martha Stewart and Michaels #ad #CricutMarthaStewart #MadeWithMichaels #CricutMade #Cricut 3.jpg
I knew right away when I saw the Martha Stewart Confetti Wands that I wanted to jazz those babies up!

I made flags for them based off of this Martha Stewart Scalloped Cupcake Topper project in Design Space. I used white card stock as the top layer, and used the writing feature on the machine to write the year on the flags.  You can find the modified project here.

Here's what's suuuuper cool...there are two tool holders in the machine, so you can put the Cricut pen in one holder and the blade in the other, and the machine will do all of the writing and cutting in one step!  It's mesmerizing to watch, too, take a peek for yourself!
I tucked the confetti wands inside little favor bags that were cut based on this Martha Stewart project included with the bundle.  The bags were cut out of watercolor card stock, and not only did the machine cut them, it scored them so I'd know exactly where to fold. I love that!!!

Then I used holographic vinyl to create a scalloped circle, adhered purple glitter vinyl "grad" lettering to a white card stock circle, and then layered it all onto the bag for a custom look. The modified project can be found here.

The machine has a Smart Set Dial with predefined settings, so when you are cutting all of the different materials for this project, you simply set the dial to the material that you are using and the machine knows exactly how much pressure to apply for the cut.  It's like magic!

I also made a card stock graduation cake topper with the machine, and added some graduation hats to the treat cups using holographic vinyl and purple glitter vinyl.

Celestial Graduation Party featuring Cricut, Martha Stewart and Michaels #ad #CricutMarthaStewart #MadeWithMichaels #CricutMade #Cricut 5.jpg
You can't have a Celestial Graduation Party and not have graduation caps, and you certainly can't have plain graduation caps, so I jazzed those babies up with some Lilac Iron-On.  I whipped up a "The Sky is the Limit" design in Design Space, cut the iron-on, then adhered it to the cap using my EasyPress and EasyPress Mat.  This project was super easy and quick!

Last but not least, I created the "Reach for the Stars" backrop.  I designed the quote in Design Space, then cut it out using Teal Adhesive Foil.  What's great is you can resize the quote to whatever dimensions work for your space right in Design Space. So easy!

Just be sure to use a strong grip mat when using the adhesive vinyl so that it stays firmly in place as it's being cut.

They're ridiculously easy to throw together, they're super inexpensive, but what I love most about them is that they will totally brighten someone's day!

Take some to work with you.  Or to the grocery store.  Send some to school with your kiddos.  They are guaranteed to bring a smile to someone else's face...even yours!

A DIY Throw Blanket Using the Cricut Maker

When I was browsing through JoAnn the other day, I came across this plaid throw that was too pretty to pass up.  It's so soft!

I am NOT a seamstress, so sewing anything together was completely out of the question.  BUT, I do know how to use Heat 'n Bond.  And I do happen to have a Cricut Maker that can precisely cut the fabric and bonding for me...

...so that, my friends, is how this DIY Throw Blanket using the Cricut Maker was born...without having to sew a stitch!
